RALEIGH – Mikey Wilkins ’25 put the Outstanding in Most Outstanding Player at the John Wall Holiday Invitational.

Fifty-one points in three games over four days, not to mention bushels of rebounds, blocks, and altered shots were enough to impress even those who watch Mikey on a daily basis.

“Obviously, Zymicah Wilkins may be the baddest man in the world right now,” Christ School coach Josh Coley said in the middle of his team’s run to Saturday night’s championship finals.

“He’s been phenomenal down here, really living in the moment, and stepping into it on a big stage.”

A moral victory was not going to be enough for Mikey and the Greenies (13-4) after taking it to Charlotte Myers Park for the better part of 32 minutes Saturday. Christ School succumbed in overtime, 50-45, but keep in mind that the Mustangs (9-2) are ranked No. 6 nationally by MaxPreps and blew out Lemon Street Classic champion Raleigh Millbrook by 34 points in the John Wall semifinals.

Mikey was voted MOP of the John Wall and made the all-tournament team along with fellow junior Madden Collins ’25.

Mikey scored a team-high 12 points in Saturday’s loss, followed by Bryson Cokley ’24 (10 points), Jamari Briggs ’24 (10), Keenan Wilkins ’24 (seven), Madden (four), and Lleyton Thomas-Johnson ’24 (two).
