Soccer Brings the Beautiful Game Indoors with Futsal Nights

Spreading the love of soccer is an all-weather, year-round mission for Christ School’s coaches and players.

For the third straight year, the program hosted a series of Futsal Nights on the turf of the Close-Krieger Athletic Center. Twenty-five area youth ages 9-13 were able to attend and build on relationships from Christ School’s summer camp.

What is Futsal? It’s a modified form of soccer played indoors with a ball that is smaller and less bouncy. The size of the teams and field is generally reduced as well. It has been heralded as a great way for players to develop their skills in the offseason when the conditions outside are not ideal.

Greenie players were able to earn service hours from their involvement in the Futsal Nights series, helping coach and organize the event. Some of them have been Futsal Nights players in the past.

Coach Guy Campbell ’00 would like to thank all the families and players for their support of the Christ School program. For more information on future Futsal events or camps, contact Coach Campbell at gcampbell@thehairdame.com.
